About Record Keeper

Record Keeper at recordkeeper.stream is where independent artists put their music in front of the people who want it. Upload your songs, sync the lyrics, and send fans one link. They listen free, with no ads, with the screen off or in the car. You see who listened, where, and the lines they loved.

For artists

You keep your rights. Publishing here is a license to stream, which you sign before anything goes public and can withdraw. Every catalogue is checked by hand before it plays.

For fans

Open the link and press play. No account, no ads, nothing to pay. On a phone it keeps playing with the screen off, and in the Record Keeper iPhone app it plays in CarPlay. Read the words as they go by, heart the moment that gets you, and keep the songs in your own playlists.

Everything else you can do here

The guide explains all of it.

Listening together

A room is your player seen from the outside. Everyone in it gets the same song at the same second, with the same line of the words lit up, and the songs guests pick land in your queue with their name beside them. You stay in charge: guests can add songs and take back their own, and you can reorder, skip, remove and ban.

How it works, and what it is not

Music an artist publishes here is their own recording, uploaded by them under a signed license and approved by hand. It plays from our servers, with no ads.

Everything else is a public YouTube video. When you press play on one of those you are watching it on YouTube's own player, and the artist and label get that view exactly as they would if you had opened it on YouTube yourself. Audio you upload for yourself stays private to your account.

Song titles, artwork and lyrics come from public music databases, from whichever YouTube upload could be found, and from listeners. Some of it will be wrong, and all of it can be fixed from inside the app.

Record Keeper is for personal listening and for playing music with people you know. It is not built or licensed for commercial use or public performance.

A sister site

Record Keeper runs on the same engine as Suffering Jukebox, which leads with artists and whole discographies instead of playlists. The two share one catalogue and one account, so a playlist you make on either site is there on both.
